It has been a cold, dreary beginning of April, and the weather report suggests that there is no relief in sight. But cold or not, snow or not, nature is giving tiny glimpses of what is to come.

Of course, my houseplants can usually be counted on to help chase away the "where the heck is spring already?" blues. Below are a few plants in bloom that make a cheery contrast with the grayness outdoors.

Ah, despite the lingering chill of early April, signs of spring are unmistakably peeking through! Nature has a charming way of hinting at the season ahead, from delicate Iris reticulata blooms to vibrant Crocuses dotting the landscape. Even indoors, my houseplants are joining in the cheer, bursting with blooms that brighten up the grayest of days. Phalaenopsis orchids grace my windowsill, their Bella TN324 variety adding a touch of elegance. Meanwhile, the Columnea and Ludisia discolor plants add their own hues, alongside the intricate inflorescence of the Hoya carnosa. Not to be outdone, the Hippeastrum 'Red Lion' proudly displays its vibrant petals, accompanied by a companion NoId Hippeastrum. Even the Anthurium and Kalanchoe blossfeldiana join the symphony of colors indoors, reminding me that spring is indeed on its way, no matter the weather outside.
